1. Is Steel Manager III, steel management and inventory control software, set up for multi currency? Multi language?
Yes, for both.
2. How many months of history are available for viewing with in Steel Manager III?

3. Does the steel management and inventory control software have the ability to scan/store/retrieve mill test reports/certifications?
Yes, we can store and retrieve images. The images can easily be retrieved by heat #, customer PO, tag number, product code, and other x-ref methods. MTR’s will also automatically print, fax or email when delivery notes (packing slips) are produced from Steel Manager III.
4. Can the software handle multiple locations? If so, up to how many, and by what technological means?
Yes we can handle unlimited locations by your choice of security ranging from SSL(secure socket layer) – VPN (virtual private network). The communications protocol used is Telnet so there is minimal bandwith required for remote access. A dial up connection is even sufficient when connecting remotely.
5. Does the user have the ability to fax and/or e-mail from the software?
Yes we have email and faxing capabilities.
6. Can users be divided into groups for allowing/not-allowing certain functions? Can each user’s options be configured on an individual basis?
Yes. We can also restrict certain fields with in any given function.
7. Can you recommend the most compatible server?
We would strongly recommend using a Dell server running Linux because of it proven stability and reliability and next to zero maintenance.
8. What minimum hardware requirements do you recommend for Steel Manager III?
Minimum client side – Intel P4 1.8 Mhz.
Server Side - latest Intel (although we recommend Zeon processor with RAID Controller)
9. Can transactions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger be searched by many different criteria?
Yes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger all can be searched by – Type of Entry, Date, String, Past Due & many more.
Inventory
10. How many characters are allowed in the item ID #? Are letters, numbers, and/or punctuation allowed?
30 characters are allowed in the item ID# and yes letters, numbers & punctuation are permitted.
11. Can we track our inventory by inches, and be able to put drops/remnants back into inventory?
Yes we can track inventory by ANY unit of measure and place drops/remnants back into inventory in real time.
12. Is the steel management and inventory control software bar code compatible?
YES
13. Can we assign part numbers to our inventory specific to certain customers that will print on the customer’s documents? For example: Item ID# A36R-5 will print on customer 01’s paperwork Part #5523 and on customer 02’s paperwork Part #68416
Yes - and also integrate with the part number drawing (if applicable) so we can view it from the inquiry and print the diagram to the warehouse with the pick slip
14. Is there a way to list suggested vendors to call for each inventory item or inventory “class”? How many? Rankable?
Yes our “Top Vendors” is a useful tool in our system. It is based on Purchase History and you can select how many you would like to list.
15. What different ways are available for looking up inventory? By grade, size, type, finish, shape, etc.? Can we track and bill for different inventory items by different criteria (i.e. some items by inch, some by piece, some by pound)? For items tracked by length, can we use both decimals and fractions?
You can search for inventory by numerous ways including grade, size, type, finish, shape, etc. or you can just simply select from a drop down window.
Yes you can track and bill for different inventory items by different criteria with ease. Items can be both decimal and fraction – with fractions we can track all the way to 1/32nd of an inch.
16. Is there an audit trail for all inventory transactions? I.e. can you determine what sales order a specific drop was created from (with or without going to tagged inventory?)
Yes, we log the movements of all products and you can find very easily what sales order a specific drop was created form.
Sales Orders / Invoicing / Quotes
17. Are alphanumeric invoice #’s allowed?
Our Sales Orders / Invoicing / Quotes, all contain alphanumeric numbers to easily identify them. Example – Q87394 – I300048, S03459
18. Can return material authorizations be produced using the software?
Yes we have 2 functions – Entry and authorizations
19. Is sales order entry user friendly? Are there sales order line items specifically for notes? Are there fields for comments for each line item? Can we create our own fields? Can we choose if we want the comment to be internal, external, or both? Can a comment be entered to always print for certain customers? Certain items?
Sales Order entry is very User Friendly. Yes, we have line items that are specific notes for all forms. We have remarks that are specific to Picking Slips, Packing Slips, Invoices, and one that is for all forms. Yes we do have remarks that are specific to customers.
20. Can we produce a profitability report for quotes? For orders?
Yes we can produce a profitability report for quotes and orders.
21. Are we able to print reports for each salesperson by month to show overall profitability? By category? By customer?
Yes to all. Also by customer by month by year.
22. Can our invoice dates be different than our ship dates?
Yes

23. Can we change information for a vendor, customer, or item while in the viewing screen, without having to back up into a menu first?
Yes to both - from a drop down menu.
24. Are we able to make the following flash on customers account screen if applicable:
Exceeded/exceeding credit limit?
Past due?
Last sale more than 6 months ago?
There is a built in credit check when trying to process an order which has all of the above criteria as well as their account being on hold. One can also enter customer reminders that will flash on the screen when accessing that customer account.
25. Can we turn off the function to delete customer notes for certain users?

Purchase Orders
26. Can we enter a purchase order at a random width or length and easily adjust the width/length when the material arrives? For example, if the P.O. is created for 12 pieces at 72” long but we actually receive 9 pieces at 72” long and 3 pieces at 80” long.
Yes this is done with ease in the direct receipts screen.
27. Is there a way to look up a purchase order # and see the vendor invoice # it was applied to and also the check # it was paid on (all on one screen)?
Yes, from a PO number you can access the vendor invoice number(s).
28. Will the system flag you if an item on a purchase order is received more than once or if you change something (i.e. price, quantity, etc.) when receiving material?
You cannot receive from a PO if the line is closed. If it is still open, a “previously received” quantity will show indicating to the user that a receipt has already been done. If you receive more than what was ordered that exceeds acceptable variance (expressed as x percent, the system will warn you.)
29. When looking up item purchases history, will you be able to view the unit of measure billed from the vendor? (i.e. price per pound, price per foot, price per each, etc.)

30. When entering vendor invoices into A/P or customer payments into A/R, will the system stop you if you enter a duplicate #? from the same batch? from a different / previous batch?
Yes, to both - the system will stop you from entering duplicate AP invoices and there are checks for AR deposits.
31. When looking at vendor activity, can you determine both what invoices were paid by a specific check, and what check paid a specific invoice? Can you see which purchase orders were applied to a specific invoice at the same screen?
Yes. Through an accrual inquiry.
32. When holding and releasing vendor invoices for payment, will the management and inventory control software provide a total dollar amount released per vendor?
Yes this will show in the cash disbursements journal.
Accounts Receivable & Credit Memos
33. Does the system allow specified users to enter a payment but NOT enter a credit memo?
User specific security is available on any screen. There is a payment authorization screen.
34. Are we able to view credit memos after they are issued and can we reprint them?
Yes.
35. Will the system produce a customer’s average days to pay?
Yes.
37. How many different credit terms can be set up overall? How many different credit terms can we specify per customer to be chosen at point of order entry (for example, one customer is occasionally granted net 30 terms and for other orders is only granted COD terms)?
Unlimited.
